Well here we are, one month away from testing. I have met all my goals in my training so far. My main goal between now and testing is to remain healthy. I am nursing a punctured eardrum that has slowed my training a bit over the last week but should be in good shape for this week. I am mainly working on making sure that my cardio is in good shape. On a side note, my training has allowed my resting heart rate to be at 57 bpm. I used to be in the 80s. This is going to be a great for when I am sparring. Low resting rates equal more range.

Hey everyone,

I am still training for sure. In addition to Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, and weights, I am upping my cardio to 25 minutes daily on the elliptical trainer. In TKD, I am working on some nice fighting combinations. Looking for them to flow smoothly during sparring. I would love to share with you what combos I am working on….but in case I will be sparring with you in September…I will just have to show you then. The only hints that I will give is that you gotta keep your feet moving…keep your elbows in….keep your hands up….and your head moving. LOL

My BJJ is progressing nicely. My BJJ team did very well and all received promotions during Mr. Dring’s and Mr. Snyder’s visit to Roanoke last month. My steady grappling partner, Kevin Matney have been working up to keeping our rolling to 50 minutes of mat time broken into 5 minute rounds with 15 second rest between rounds. We are rolling at 80% of max but it really makes the sweat pour. Learning to relax and breathe helps for sure! This is a great suppliment to my TKD training goals.

My diet goals are coming along nicely. Since the first week of February, I am down 17lbs! This is huge for me. I have been actively training for quite a while and have always ate fairly clean. The Advocare products have given me the extra boost and focus to get my nutrition in order. My body weight is now at 227. It has been YEARS since I have been at this weight. I weighed 270 at 36% bodyfat when I tested for 4th and the testing was really tough on my endurance. My 4th Sr. test I weighed 235 at 15% and was quite a bit better. I actually thought I had another round after the 4th, which is a good feeling to still have fuel in the tank. I am now projecting my weight to be around 217 within the next 5-6 weeks at least. This will put me in good shape to hit my testing goal weight of 210. Would like my bodyfat to be below 10%. To have a 60lb weight loss between 4th Deg and 5th Deg would be awesome! If you want information about Advocare, pop me an email or inbox my facebook. MyAdvocare site is www.AdvoRoanoke.com If you are a gym or school owner, this is a great way to have additional income as well. Get with me if you want some info on becoming a distributor.

Thank you for reading my posts. Please feel free to pop me encouragement and suggestions. I am always the student…always willing to learn.

Off to the gym!

Keep training my friends!

Hey everyone!

Very excited to be testing in September. I have always enjoyed promotional testings. Especially, since I have owned a school. It it quite a thrill to prepare students and see them challenge themselves at their testing. I push students hard to make sure that they are prepared for testing. Taekwondo testings are not about winning or losing or how well you did compared to another student, they are about self improvement. Are you getting better…stronger…more fit…greater understanding of your art?

Since this testing is for a new belt, there is a special significance for me. When I started training as a child, I was encouraged by my instructor to quit and that I was not wanted in the school. I found out later that my family paid extra to the instructor to have me in classes. Perserverance is important for sure. I did not quit as a child and will focus my energy on this goal as an adult.

Now is my time to lead by example. The last time I tested for rank was about two years ago so many of my students have never seen me train for a testing. Starting soon, we will be having a special weekly “Camp Lindamood” class. This will be an aggressive workout with the purpose of getting me into shape. Anyone that takes this class will definately get the benefits of some heavy training. Warning: You will get your head and legs kicked. LOL

I am in day two of the 24 day challenge. Full of energy despite the very low calories that I am working on. This is going to be great. If I do not have to carry it around with me….I will move better.

5 egg white Veggie omelet and fiber drink for breakfast. Had a SPARK Energy Drink to get my day started. Heading to the gym to train Chest and Triceps at 10am. Taekwondo and Kickboxing tonight!

Keep Training!

Hey everyone!

Had a great training day yesterday with Doc Kemerly. My team had a great opportunity to learn from a highly skilled BJJ player. I have been supplimenting BJJ training into my TKD training regimine for the past year. Mainly to increase my cardio and simply to learn something new.

I have been training in TKD (actually started out with Chung Do Kwon and American Freestyle) since I was 8 years old. 33 years of martial arts training and it is great to still be learning something new.

Today, I have started the Advocare 24 Day Challenge, ( http://www.AdvoRoanoke.com ). My goals are to lose body fat. I am not as concerned about my weight as I am with the composition.

This week, I will be doing a fun drill that I have used with my students to get them ready for testing. It is called “Pushup Forms”. This is how it works. You do two moves of your pattern…Do one push up…go back to your pattern and add two moves to where you just finished…Do one push up….Add two moves…one push up. It is very important that every stance and move is perfect. Lots of muscle memory on this drill. Go try it yourself!

Have fun with your training!

Hey everyone. It has been a bit since I posted. Talking with my buddy Dewaine Chan at the Taekwondo America Nationals in Ft Mitchell, KY this weekend, I am now inspired to get back to bloggin.

The main thing that I am doing right now is working on my diet and being consistent in my training. With my diet, I am basically trying to eat something every couple hours. Not usually a very large meal but something to keep my metabolism working throughout the day. Usually when I get a large meal like when I eat out, I have been trying to pay attention to portions and splitting the food immediately. That way, i can get another meal from the same dish and keep my calories per meal down.

Ditching the soda is huge! I have been off soda’s for a few months. This makes a huge difference. Drinking your calories is not the best way to get your nourishment.

Owning a school lends a new set of problems to properly training for TKD. I ready myself to work out everytime a class lends itself for the opportunity. I usually get to take three classes of TKD per week and I also grapple three days a week. I have a couple really good sparrers that are able to push me. In May, I started a kickboxing class into our class schedule. In that class I am teaching the Joe Lewis Fighting System patterns on a rotating basis and also allows for some heavier contact sparring. This has worked great on improving my cardio.

I got me a new pair of shoes that will hopefully get me able to begin some road work. I have big ‘ole TKD feet and running without really good shoes, that fit me…kills my feet.

Stay tuned!
